thursday evening>

humid, cloudy, off and on moderate to heavy thundershowers... it has been a very "monsoon-ish" afternoon and evening. although the official northern limit of the monsoon has moved little in the last couple of days, there is no doubt that we are getting surges of monsoon/tropical moisture here at the foot of the dhauladars in himachal. from here on, days of dry weather are going to be hard to come by. we have a weak west-northwest flow in the middle and upper atmosphere, and rich southeast flow of humid air at the surface, and that will keep periods of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for the next several days. a few hours of sunshine here and there will only serve to increase the heat and humidity, providing fuel for more thundershowers. as we move through the weekend into early next week, official monsoon conditions will become more likely. OK folks... here we go.... :-)
