tuesday evening>

today was WAY cooler than expected... with periods of rain and thunderstorms starting just before noon and continuing into the evening. we only had a few peeks of sunshine between thundershowers. the airmass over northern india is still very warm, but our actual temperatures are entirely dependent on sunshine, or lack thereof. since rain chances will be increasing during the rest of the week, we'll revise our high temp forecasts downward. right now we're being hit from the west with a stream of weak upper-air disturbances, and from the east with the advance of pre-monsoon moisture. that means... keep the umbrella handy... but also be prepared to sweat when the sun comes out. the joys of late june!

*MONSOON WATCH** the first traces of monsoon moisture are making their way along the front ranges of the north indian himalaya now. the offical northern "limit" of the monsoon extends from extreme southern rajasthan to eastern uttar pradesh and eastern nepal, but this line could surge to the north-northwest rapidly during the latter part of the week, bringing bonafide monsoon rains here by late saturday or sunday. check for updates throughout the week...
