wednesday evening>

ominous-looking skies and rumbling thunder early this morning failed to deliver. sunshine was out in full-force by late morning, with not a drop of rain to be found. the high temp at the weathergeek office hit 28c/83f... with humidity building during the afternoon. the sunshine and lack of rain today only means that the atmosphere is storing up energy for later. thunderstorms may develop overnight, but are even more likely on thursday into friday, as moisture increases, and a series of disturbances slide in from the northwest. temperatures will gradually drop as we move into the weekend, in response to less sunshine and increasing humidity.

*MONSOON WATCH** it's been very interesting watching the leading edge of monsoon moisture the past couple of days. although there has been very little advance across central india, there has been a "slow creep" of tropical moisture northwestward along the front range of the himalayas. it has almost completely engulfed nepal, and is surging now into uttar anchal (our neighboring state to the east). it is still a good possibility that official monsoon conditions will arrive in the dharamsala area by late this weekend...
