monday morning (27sep)>

skies are totally clear just before sunrise this morning, with a temperature of 15.5C/60F

satellite pics this morning show absolutely clear skies from afghanistan and pakistan through northern india and nepal.  the upper-air pattern will remain virtually unchanged for the next 4 days or so... with winds aloft blowing from the west-northwest.  that will keep us in a quiet weather pattern, with little fluctuation in temperatures.  our only "fly in the ointment" will continue to be the build-up of clouds and fog during the afternoon and evening hours.  as the sunshine heats up the lower atmosphere during the mornings, the air begins to rise from the valleys up the slopes of the mountains... that causes all the leftover moisture to condense out in the form of clouds and fog.  as we saw yesterday afternoon, there is even a chance of a stray/random bit of thunder, or a brief shower over the mountains.  but... as the sun goes down and the heating stops, the clouds and fog will quickly disappear.  anyway, we'll have to wait a while longer to dry out enough for this daily cycle of PM clouds and fog to come to an end...

MONDAY: lots of morning sunshine.  increasing clouds and fog by mid-day, through the PM hours.  some thunder, or a brief shower possible.
