sunday evening (19sep)>

not quite four full days without rain...  so the streak is finished.  it wasn't much, but we did have a period of showers between 4 and 5pm, after a sunny morning and a foggy and gloomy afternoon.  here i measured 0.06" (1.5mm), but our observers near the main temple didn't receive enough to measure.  the high temp in upper mcleod ganj reached 20.7C/69.3F.

the view from space this evening shows a broad area of clouds associated with deeper tropical moisture moving in from the east. this moisture is what's left of the monsoon in northern india, and will be hanging around for the next several days, thanks to the absence of a much-anticipated push of crisp, dry air from central asia.  periods of showers and thundershowers will be quite likely through thursday... with a round or two of heavy rain possible as well.  apart from the rain, expect the tired old mixture of clouds, fog and peeks of sun.

if you've been watching, you've seen that the ferns and moss have gone from deep green to a dead-looking yellow during the past several days... but it seems that the fog has barely given up at all!
