sunday morning (19sep)>

skies are mostly clear early this morning, with a temperature of 16C/60F. we haven't had a single drop of rain since wednesday evening... so our september total remains near 15" (38cm), averaged across the mcleod ganj area.

an interesting weather scenario will unfold during the coming few days.  although we are right on the edge of being able to say GOODBYE to the monsoon season for this year, there is still a good amount of tropical moisture in the air... that's why we've had a few hours of thick fog everyday, despite the lack of rainfall.  there has been quite a bit of shower and thunderstorm activity just to our southeast, in uttar anchal and western uttar pradesh the last 2-3 days.  all of our computer models are now in agreement in bringing that disturbed weather northwestward into our area... and increasing our rain chances, right into the middle of  the week.  this is going to dash the hopes of those who were sure that the monsoon was dead and gone.  we will still have periods of sunshine, but don't be surprised by a heavy downpour or two as well...
