tuesday evening (21sep)>

skies are mostly cloudy across the area just before sunset this evening, but there is very little fog, for a change.  we had a few periods of light showers and drizzle during the early afternoon, but not enough rain to measure.  today's high temp in upper mcleod ganj was a rather cool 17.7C/64F.

satellite pics this evening show a large area of rain and thunderstorms well to our south, over southern punjab, haryana and the delhi metro.  there are a few other widely scattered showers here in himachal pradesh, but nothing very significant... yet.  look for rain chances to continue creeping upward during the next 48 hours or so, as the LAST batch of monsoon moisture drifts northward.  it is rare that all three of our available computer guidance models are in agreement, so i am fairly confident that we will receive a period or two of significant rain between now and thursday evening.  at the moment i am still thinking 1-2" (3-5cm) is within the realm of possibility, but stay tuned as the situation develops.  after that, a dramatic "drying out" trend is likely... from friday through the weekend.  this could very well be THE END of the monsoon... finally.
