tuesday morning (21sep)>

we have a broken layer of mid-level clouds blanketing the area before sunrise this morning, with a temperature of 15.5C/60F.  there has been no additional rainfall overnight.

clouds will be thickening up again this morning, with some fog developing as well.  a large area of tropical moisture covers much of northern india, and is currently centered near delhi.  there are several embedded areas of rain and thundershowers, which will expand and push to the north during the next 12-24 hours.  that means that we are in a very good position to pick up more rain later today... right through thursday.  in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if we picked up some rainfall in the 1-2" (3-5cm) range during the coming 3 days.  the GOOD NEWS is this: this appears to be the final wave of the monsoon for this year... by friday, there will be a rather dramatic reduction of moisture in all layers of the atmosphere, which will lead to lower humidity and an end to the fog.  by this time next week, we may be able to say that monsoon 2010 is truly, absolutely, definitely a thing of the past....!
