wednesday afternoon (20oct)>

increasingly active weather is in the forecast starting now... through saturday.  as advertised, a strong upper level disturbance is getting organized over central asia, and will continue to develop as it drops southeastward into northern india during the weekend.  the main characteristic of this system will be cold air aloft, which will create a period of instability that should peak between thursday night and saturday morning.  this means an increasing chance of a period or two of rain and thunderstorms for our area... but it's going to be cold enough for a decent bit of snowfall over the mountains, especially above 3000m/9800ft.  no crossing indrahar pass starting thursday, please!!

it looks like the moisture will quickly move out by mid-day saturday, leaving us with the coolest temps of the season so far, along with some of that crisp dry air we've been waiting for...
