more like march... (am.3.feb.11)>

i've been here for the month of february for the majority of the past decade... and i don't think i ever remember it being this warm, this early in the month.  this morning, the temp is a balmy 52F (11C), with a mild breeze.  a very strong fetch of southerly winds in the lower and mid-levels of the atmosphere continues to transport unseasonably warm air into the area... and that will continue until saturday.  then, a return to reality is likely...

there is a very slow-moving storm system which continues to gather strength over afghanistan.  already, it is beginning to affect us with a few waves of high cloudiness.  those clouds will increase and thicken over the next 24-36 hours... and will eventually yield some rain showers.  any precipitation should start out quite light and scattered, but there are indications we may be in for significant rain (and significant snow higher up the mountain) from sunday through tuesday.  temperatures will cool off dramatically as well.  stay tuned!
