gentle and mild... (am.12.mar.11)>

there are a few high clouds drifting by just before sunrise this morning... otherwise skies are mostly clear, with a temp of 50.9F (10.5C).

current satellite photos show patches of thin, high clouds scattered from pakistan into kashmir and himachal pradesh... an indication of the warming which is occurring very high in the atmosphere.  at the same time, temperatures are also warming in the lower levels... so it looks like our much-anticipated warming trend is continuing to take shape.  we've had a battle between sun and mountain clouds the past few days, but as the atmosphere becomes more and more stable, the clouds should suffer defeat... especially into early next week.

i am really impressed with the magnitude of this pre-summer weather pattern being advertised by the computer models...  a massive ridge of high pressure (more representative of may than march) will become firmly established by tuesday/wednesday.  might be a good idea to dig out the summer clothes...!
