mostly great... (pm.28.apr.11)>

once again this evening we have partly cloudy and hazy skies... with a bit of thunder still up in the mountains as recently as about an hour ago.  the clouds really billowed up this afternoon over the dhauladars, with occasional rumbles of thunder starting around 2:45pm... but there was no rain, as far as i've seen or heard.  the high temp at the top of mcleod ganj was 79F (26.1C).

current satellite views show widely scattered thundershowers occurring along the front ranges of the himalayas... all the way from kashmir through himachal pradesh and uttar anchal, into nepal and sikkim.  all of this is happening in response to warmer temps at the surface, and random pockets of colder air in the upper atmosphere>> this combo is what is known as instability, because warmer air doesn't like to be trapped below significantly colder air aloft, and will inevitably rise and condense.  even without an organized storm system or large-scale disturbance, this is a typical late spring and summer scenario around here, and it looks like we can expect this for at least the next several days.

otherwise, there will still be a good amount of sunshine filtering through the haze and occasional clouds... and temperatures will remain near or slightly warmer than they've been the last several days.  gone is our sweater/jacket weather in the evenings and early mornings... finally!
