dharamsala shines... (pm.15.may.11)>

skies are partly cloudy just before sunset this evening, after a high temp of 85.6F (29.8C), which matches last thursday's warmest temperature of 2011.  it's been a great day for the millions of television cricket viewers to tune in and see what a beautiful place this is!

despite the sunshine for most of the day, a couple of tenacious thundershowers developed along the higher peaks of the mountains from kashmir and himachal into uttar anchal this afternoon... proof that even with this kind of fair and generally stable weather pattern, the chance of rain is never 0% this time of year.   nevertheless, the chance of showers and storms is very low here in the vicinity of mcleod ganj for the next couple of days, as high pressure continues to strengthen in the upper atmosphere.  temperatures should continue to slowly rise as well, most likely peaking on tuesday or wednesday.

by the middle of the week, the upper-air pattern will shift a bit, and that will allow a moderately strong disturbance to drop southeastward into northern india.  the chance of showers and a thunderstorm or two will increase by friday, as temperatures drop back closer to normal for this time of year.
