exceptional... (am.23.may.11)>

we have clear skies, and a coolish temp of 64.0F (17.8C) before sunrise this morning.  nice to get some comfortable sleeping weather again, even if it will be short-lived.  we've had no additional rainfall since last evening, but the total from friday afternoon through sunday night stands at 0.58" (1.5cm).

the cooler weather ushered in by weekend rain and storms has been very welcome and much appreciated but unfortunately, it won't last.  today will still be relatively comfortable, but very warm air will be surging back into the area as the week goes on, so both afternoon highs and early morning lows will be on the rise again.  our weekend storm system is pretty much out of the picture now... being replaced by a ridge of high pressure aloft, which will be responsible for the warming trend, and for shutting down rain chances for a couple of days.

by late wednesday, the first in a series of new disturbances in the upper-atmosphere will drift through, giving us an increasing chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms each day during the last half of the week.
