a fantastic evening... (pm.3.may.11)>

our evening is pretty much flawless... we have mostly sunny skies (apart from some haze), with the afternoon cumulus clouds over the mountains rapidly dissipating.  the high temp up on the top side of the dharamsala metropolis was a pleasantly warm 81.2F (27.3C).

satellite pics show some isolated to randomly scattered showers and thundershowers from western kashmir through himachal and uttar anchal into nepal... right along the front ranges of the himalayas.  here in himachal, the only activity of note is occurring down between shimla and kinnaur... which is the same scenario as last evening.

during the next couple of days, high pressure will continue to build in the upper atmosphere, while temperatures at the surface keep rising.  i'm still thinking that thursday holds the potential to be the warmest day of 2011 thus far.  despite sunshine, haze will be on the increase, and there will remain at least a slight chance of one of these afternoon thundershowers to pop up over our area.  a more significant and dynamic upper-level storm system may be on the way for the end of the week, however.  shower and thunderstorm chances will increase into the 50-60% range for friday into early sunday, with a corresponding drop in temperatures.  check back here as we watch just how much of threat this will become...
