ripe for thunder..? (am.12.may.11)>

i had to blink and rub my eyes a few times when looking at the thermometer this morning, because i am showing 73F (22.8C)... that's the warmest early morning temp of this season by far.  skies are clear, but the haze is increasing again.

full-on summertime is in the forecast for the next several days at least, as a hot airmass continues to inhabit the northern plains of india, and doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.  for today and tomorrow especially, there will remain a bit of an active flow at the jetstream level... little disturbances and pools of much colder air aloft... and that means we need to keep the mention of an afternoon/overnight round of thunderstorms in the forecast.  one of those random thunderstorms is really the only chance we have of cooling down at all in the next few days.

yesterday's high of 85F (29.5C) was the warmest of 2011, and we should remain in that neighborhood right into the early part of next week... possibly even a few degrees warmer... especially by sunday and monday.  needless to say, every meter further down the hill, the heat will be more intense.  temps in kangra will be rising above 40C (104F), and staying there for a while.

THURSDAY: morning sunshine, but becoming partly cloudy with a period of thunderstorms possible this afternoon.  continued very warm.
high: 29C (85F)

THURSDAY NIGHT: chance of a thunderstorm, otherwise partly cloudy.
low: 21C (69F)

FRIDAY: partly sunny skies, with a thunderstorm or two in the area.
high: 28C (83F)

SATURDAY: mostly sunny and very warm.
high: 29C (85F)

SUNDAY: lots of sunshine and summery warmth.
high: 30C (86F)

MONDAY: sunny to partly cloudy with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.  even warmer...
high: 31C (87F)
