sun and storms... (am.26.may.11)>

skies are clear just before sunrise this morning, with a comfortable temp of 70.2F (21.2C) to start the day.  all of the thundershower action from early last night has totally dissipated, but we were left with a rainfall total of 0.16" (4mm)... all of which occurred between about 2:30pm and 10:00pm.

we're in the midst of a series of upper-level disturbances moving through the western himalayan region... and it looks like the next one is on the way for later today through friday.  scattered showers and thunderstorms are already evident on the satellite pics across much of afghanistan and the central and northern parts of pakistan, a sign of what we can look forward to during the next 24 to 36 hours.  again, due to limited moisture, it will be tough for us to get heavy rainfall... but the unstable atmosphere and energy aloft will be enough to stir up some rather noisy thunderstorms, with dangerous lightning and gusty winds.  be aware and prepared if you  plan to be away from shelter!

storm chances will diminish somewhat by the weekend, as temperatures resume their warm-up... but still isolated to widely scattered thundershowers could pop up mainly during the afternoon hours.  all in all, it looks like a fairly normal pre-monsoon weather pattern...
