warmest of 2011... (pm.4.may.11)>

**12:35am...  some feisty thundershowers have developed over us and just to the west.  they'll be moving through during the wee hours of the morning, bringing thunder and lightning, some light to moderate rain, and gusty winds.
---

we have mostly cloudy and hazy skies early this evening... thunder has been rumbling up in the mountains during the entire mid- and late afternoon, but as far as i've seen, there hasn't been a drop of rain.  hazy sunshine until the early afternoon and a south breeze boosted my high temp to 83.4F (28.6C), which is the warmest i have recorded this year so far.

current satellite photos show a beautiful chain-link of thundershowers extending for thousands of kilometers along the front range peaks of the himalayas... all the way from northern pakistan through kashmir, himachal pradesh, uttar anchal and into central nepal near pokhara.  the winds in the upper atmosphere are nearly dead calm, however, so these massive cumulonimbus clouds will fizzle out and die as the sun sets, without drifting far from the mountains.

the upper-level disturbance scheduled for the weekend is actually making a faster move than anticipated, so now it looks like the best chance of some scattered showers and thunderstorms will occur from late tomorrow into early saturday.  this isn't a big storm system, but there will be enough energy to possibly whip up a decent round of thunderstorms at some point during the early part of the weekend.  in response, we should be seeing some slightly cooler temperatures starting on friday.  by sunday and monday, the summer heat will advance again, as rain chances diminish...

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: partly cloudy... a thundershower or two moving through overnight.
low: 20C (68F)

THURSDAY: very warm, with a good amount of hazy sunshine in the morning.  increasing clouds with a chance of a thunderstorm by late afternoon.
high: 29C (85F)

FRIDAY: a mix of clouds and sun, along with a good chance of a couple of showers and thunderstorms in the area.  not quite as warm.
high: 28C (82F)

SATURDAY: partly cloudy with a continuing risk of a thundershower.  pleasant temps.
high: 26C (79F)

SUNDAY: partly to mostly sunny with just a slight chance of a PM thundershower.
high: 27C (80F)

MONDAY: mostly sunny and warming up again.
high: 28C (83F)
