our juicy atmosphere... (am.20.jun.11)>

skies are partly cloudy just before sunrise this morning... it's 68.5F (20.3C), and the humidity stands at 74%.  there was no rainfall overnight, and all is quiet across himachal pradesh for now... but there are some areas of rain and thunder to our west and north across parts of kashmir and northern pakistan which could affect us in a matter of hours.

we'll continue to see a mixed bag of summer/pre-monsoon conditions during the next few days, as we continue to wait for the definitive and official monsoon declaration.  periods of sunshine will alternate with periods of thick clouds and even some fog, while a couple of heavy downpours with thunder are a good bet as well from time to time.  our humidity levels will remain close to 70%... but could top 80% for brief periods during the early part of this week.

a weak but stubborn northwesterly flow aloft is keeping true monsoon conditions from engulfing the northwest third of india, but there are indications that may change by late in the week, as a more tropical easterly flow develops.  bottom line... the flirtation with monsoon 2011 will intensify.
