daring to hope... (pm.5.oct.11)>

clouds are gradually dispersing this evening, and there was even a glimpse of the setting sun a few minutes ago.  there have been a few sprinkles in the area late this afternoon, and a rumble of two of thunder around 4:00pm, but for the fourth day in a row, i have had no measurable rain up at the top of mcleod ganj.  there has only been 0.02" (0.5mm) in my rain gauge since saturday.  things were looking promising during the noon hour today, with a really nice period of sunshine which allowed us to reach a high temp of 71.2F (21.8C)... the warmest since monday of last week, according to my records.

despite the brightness around noon, the clouds and fog were the victors again this afternoon, and satellite photos this evening show that we have narrowly missed a couple of vigorous thundershowers, which managed to remain just to our east.  the random afternoon thundershower development will continue in the mountains from kashmir and himachal to uttarakhand as we approach the end of the week, with the same old battle between sun, clouds and fog continuing as well.

we're still keeping an eye on a changing weather pattern which includes a couple of upper-level disturbances and possibly an intrusion of less moisture-laden air by sunday, especially.  the humidity is expected to steadily decrease by then, which would finally put an end to the fog.  we'll believe it when we see it.... right??
