warmest of 2012... (pm.18.mar.12)>

The four of you who voted that our first 21C/70F temperature would occur during the 16-20 March range (see poll results at right) are rightfully entitled to the weathergeek award. You know who you are!  Today's high reached 74.1F (23.4C), which was nearly 5F warmer than Saturday... and the first time I've recorded a temp above 21C/70F during 2012.  The dramatic warm-up we've been anticipating for the past week or so has turned out to be real indeed.

There is some fairly thick high cloudiness which has been spreading into the area during the last few hours, dimming the sun during the later part of the afternoon.  These clouds are a precursor of an upper-level storm system which is expected to move across north India late Monday and Tuesday.  Temperatures could warm up even further during the next 24 hours, in advance of this system, but then we'll see an increase in the risk of a few showers and thunderstorms.  The bulk of the precipitation should develop and pass to our north, but the whole scenario will have to be watched as it develops.

We'll cool off a bit starting on Tuesday, but temperatures should actually remain fairly comfortable (and close to normal) for March during the latter half of the coming week.
