evolving scenario... (am.09.apr.12)>

We have some patches of high clouds across the area early this morning.  I've recorded an overnight low temp of 63.0F (17.2C)... which is very consistent with the past three mornings in a row.  There has been no rainfall overnight, and only a trace during the past 24 hours.

Although we'll be undergoing a change in the weather pattern during the next few days, it remains to be seen how much of a tangible change we'll see and feel.  Despite the quiet weather pattern of the past week, we've still had thunder over the mountains each and every day... and even a good dose of rain last Thursday here in town, and some random light showers yesterday evening.  The change on the way consists of an approaching upper-level disturbance which should cause the atmosphere to become very unstable at times during the coming week.  Computer models are pegging Tuesday and Wednesday as the most likely days to pick up some significant rainfall (possibly in the 1-2cm / 0.4-.08" range)... which will most likely be delivered from strong thunderstorms.  Even during the latter part of the week, the pattern looks far from quiet... so we actually have a decent shot at some showers and thunderstorms every day this week.

Temperatures should remain near to slightly above normal for this time of year... although we could have some chilly spells in the midst of bouts of thunder and rain.  Please be aware and take precautions this week if you are going to be in the mountains away from shelter...
