lull in the action... (pm.12.apr.12)>

There are lots of clouds billowing over the mountains this evening, but the sun is still visible in the western sky prior to sunset.  It has turned out to be a really nice day, though on the cool side for the middle of April.  I recorded a high temperature of 70.5F (21.4C) at around 3:30pm.  The butterflies may have enjoyed it more than we did... there were thousands of them out and about today.!

I'm afraid our beautiful weather today may have lulled us into false complacency.  We remain under a moderately unstable atmosphere which could unleash another round of thunderstorms during the next 2-3 days... most likely tomorrow or Saturday.  In fact, this evening's computer model data is forecasting another upper-level disturbance to move through tomorrow, with another couple of weak disturbances drifting through over the weekend.  I don't think we'll see the kind of rainfall we experienced on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the scenario definitely bears watching.... especially if you are contemplating plans to be up higher in the mountains.

Today's high temp was about 2-3C (4-5F) cooler than normal for this time of year -- and we should remain a bit below normal until early next week, when there are hints of a fairly robust warm-up.
