not-so-friendly skies... (pm.22.apr.12)>

Lots of clouds around the area this evening, with some thundershowers lurking mainly to our south and west.  It's been another day of rather wild swings between sunny/warm weather and cloudy/cool conditions.  There was enough sunshine until the early afternoon to boost my high temperature to 72.8F (22.7C).  Although I heard some thunder around 2:00pm, I'm not aware of any measurable rainfall in town thus far today.

The center of our most recent upper-level disturbance is very near the Kashmir/Pakistan border, just to our northwest, drifting very slowly to the east.  The rather large pool of cold air aloft in association with this system is what is keeping the atmosphere unstable, and kicking off the scattered showers and thunderstorms which we could still catch during the next several hours.

As the week progresses, I'm not seeing a definitive, dramatic turn to more stable conditions... and that means at least a mentionable chance of mainly afternoon thundershowers will remain in the forecast.  At this point, it appears that temps will be gradually moderating until Thursday and Friday -- so with periods of sunshine it will be pleasantly warm.
