sensational sunday... (pm.13.may.12)>

Well our Sunday has turned out to be quite sensational... nice to have a day that ends up on the positive side of expectations.  There was thunder over the mountains off and on during the early afternoon, but the development was stifled, and as far as I am aware, there was never any rain in McLeod.  I recorded a high temp of 84.4F (29.1C) right around 3:00pm -- the warmest since Wednesday, and the second warmest of the year thus far.

Apparently there wasn't enough of a disparity between cold air aloft and warmer temps here at the surface to initiate significant thunderstorm development today... at least not here at our elevation.  However, the flow in the upper-atmosphere will continue to feature occasional weak disturbances and "cold pools" up above 5000m/15,000ft throughout the coming week.  There will still be periods of nice sunshine and quiet weather, but a random shower or thunderstorm could occur at anytime of the day or night, so keep that in mind and be prepared if you're going to be away from close shelter.

After our brief cool-down on Saturday, temps have already bounced back above normal for this stage of May.  Barring a blast of thundershowers, we should continue to see seasonably warm temperatures throughout the coming week... perhaps flirting with the warmest we've experienced yet in 2012...
