measurable rain lacking... (pm.04.jun.12)>

Skies are partly cloudy early this evening, after thunder rumbled and random raindrops fell during the middle and latter parts of the afternoon.  Once again, I've recorded only a trace of rainfall -- seems impossible in the last couple of weeks to come up with anything measurable.  We had plenty of sunshine until the early afternoon, which boosted my high temp on Tushita Road just below the Mountaineering Center to 86.5F (30.3C) for the second day in a row.

Our weather pattern shows no signs of any dramatic changes during the coming several days.  There is still a large area of very warm air entrenched at the surface, with little disturbances and pools of cooler air drifting through in the upper atmosphere.  This scenario is going to keep us dealing with an unstable air mass mainly during the afternoon and evening hours, so continue to expect rapid cloud development during the PM hours, followed by the risk of some thunder rumbling around, along with some sprinkles and a light shower or two.  The amount of moisture in the air is still inefficient to produce much in the way of significant rainfall, as we await the arrival of the first waves of tropical moisture in advance of this year's monsoon.

As long as we keep getting several hours of strong summer sunshine each day our temperatures should remain very warm.  At this point, the only real chance of cooling off dramatically will be the arrival of some decent rain.  Remember that you can keep track of the development of Monsoon 2012 by clicking on the tab at the top of the page.
