diwali prep... (pm.12.nov.12)>

Monday's stats:

Early morning low temp: 49.8F (9.9C)
Afternoon high temp: 60.3F (15.7F)
Rainfall: none

Clouds are stubbornly clinging to the mountains just after sunset this evening, but the sunshine also held sway for longer today, with the clouds waiting until late afternoon to achieve any kind of significant development.  My high temp in the upper part of town was the coolest of the season, and in my opinion, it felt like it.

Our weather pattern remains fairly quiet, although there are some random weak disturbances drifting through on the west-northwesterly flow aloft.  These mini-circulations and associated pools of cold air in the upper atmosphere will continue to allow a bit of instability to develop from time to time, but I'm still not seeing evidence of any significantly stormy weather, or even measurable precipitation down here at the elevations where most of us live.  A few dustings of snow will probably occur high on the mountains, however, so keep that in mind if you're going to be venturing upward.

It still looks like we may get to enjoy a bit of a moderation in temperatures by Friday, but then the next intrusion of colder air will be on the way again over the weekend.  HAPPY DIWALI!
