My temperature here on Tushita Road just below the Mountaineering Center is 47.8F (8.8C) at the time of this posting, but the thermometer shows an overnight low of 41.9F (5.5C) which occurred right around midnight. There was some light fog here in the immediate McLeod area during the first part of the night, but then some mid-level cloudiness moved in, and that's when our temps started to moderate a bit.
The atmosphere has been undergoing adjustments ever since late yesterday morning, after several days of totally stagnant and uneventful (though mild and pleasant) weather. Cooling has occurred from the surface all the way into the higher levels, while a couple of very weak disturbances float across north India. There have been some scattered snow showers further to our north, but I don't expect any precipitation around here during the next few days... just some occasional cloudiness in the midst of the sunshine.
There is still a storm system being forecast by computer models for the end of the week, however. It's still too early to say what kind of impact this is going to have on us, but at this stage, it appears that there will be much less moisture available, as compared to the very wet system we were dealing with back on the 14th and 15th of December. On the other hand, very cold air aloft combined with slow movement of the storm could bring us a few days of potentially wet and cold weather, starting as early as late Thursday.
