mild streak peaks... (pm.22.dec.12)>

Saturday's stats:

Early morning low temp: 48.4F (9.1C)
Afternoon high temp: 58.6F (14.8C)
Rainfall: none

Today was the warmest day since the 9th of December -- nearly two weeks ago.  It is totally clear just after sunset this evening, at the end of a day which was just short of 100% sunny... only a couple of small patches of thin cirrus clouds prevented us from wall-to-wall sunshine.  It's days like these that make it worth taking the risk to stick around here during the winter season.

This unseasonably mild streak of weather is peaking now, as it looks like there will be some gradual and subtle changes taking place during the coming several days.  The high pressure ridge which has dominated our weather pattern will start to break down by late tomorrow (Sunday), as a weak upper-level disturbance moves in.  This system lacks moisture and also is short on the dynamic energy necessary to bring us any precipitation, but there should be an increase in clouds, along with a slight drop in temperatures on Monday and Christmas Day.

Thereafter, computer models continue to hint at a potential storm system for the end of the new week.  It's hard to nail down any specifics at this early stage, but we may need to get back into the mindset of winter, which means being prepared for a turn to much colder temps, a mix of significant rain and snow in the neighborhood, along with gusty winds.  Stay tuned for updates as the week progresses...
