It is 100% clear as the sun rises above the mountains early this morning. I've recorded an overnight low temp of 47.5F (8.6C) -- continuing our streak of mild mornings these past several days.
The next batch of cloudiness to our west has made slow progress overnight, but should gradually eclipse the sunshine as the hours go by today. The clouds will be in advance of the developing storm system which will be affecting us over the weekend.
This storm will be unusual for this time of year, mainly because of its expected southerly track from southern Pakistan through central Rajasthan and on towards Delhi. New computer model data is keeping the heavier rainfall to our south, so there are a lot of question marks regarding how much rain and snowfall is going to be generated up here along the Dhauladhars. Average amounts look to be in the 3-5cm (1.2-2.0") range for our area, but there are many discrepancies among the various computer models at the moment.
It also appears that the main bulk of precipitation will hold off until late Friday through late Saturday night -- and with the expected arrival of much colder air throughout all layers of the atmosphere, we're still going to be dealing with a low snow line for the middle of February. This will be another very interesting one to watch -- especially on Saturday.
