it's a time-out... (am.11.aug.13)>

There's a mix of clouds, fog and some quick peeks of sunshine early on this Sunday morning.  My humidity reading stands at 94%, and the temp is right around 67F (19.5C) to start the day.  No rain fell overnight -- and that leaves us with just a trace amount for the past 24 hours.  This is the first time I haven't had measurable rain in a 24-hour period since I returned on 15 July.

Actually it's now about 36 hours since I've recorded enough rainfall to register in the gauge, and I have to think this isn't going to last much longer.  There's nothing in the upper-air data or computer model guidance to indicate that we shouldn't be getting at least some scattered moderate showers between now and mid-day Monday, so this brief dry spell could come to an end at any moment.

The next deeper surge of tropical moisture is still on its way as the new week unfolds.  It's now looking like late Monday through Wednesday is the target time-frame for a few rounds of very heavy rain that could deliver 2-4" (5-10cm) or more in a relatively short period of time.  The ground has had a little time to soak up last week's very heavy rains, or dispose of it in the form of run-off, but we could become over-saturated again in the coming few days.
