*Update @ 7:39pm... Lots of power/light fluctuations during the past hour or so. Now on again (for the moment). It's raining moderately here at my house, with occasional thunder and lightning. The temp has dipped to 43.7F (6.5C), as humidity reaches 90% for the first time. From the look of the latest satellite pics, we may be in for a long night of significant rainfall.

Yet another thundershower is in progress at the time of this writing, after a day in which we've seen quite a bit of back-and-forth between clouds, showers, thunder and wicked lightning, gusty winds, some hail, and even a couple of brief periods of sun thrown in. The rain gauge is ticking upward at the moment, so check back here for updates on those totals later tonight. Our temps have fluctuated all day as well, with the low temp occurring during the early afternoon in the midst of a period of rain and small hail.
We've been dealing with lots of clouds and even a few brief, light showers all the way back to Sunday -- with the rainfall intensity increasing by increments lately, it seems. By far, the most significant precipitation has occurred since very early this morning, as deep moisture being transported northward collides with an intense upper-level low pressure circulation which is now centered over northcentral Pakistan. This system is moving only very slowly eastward, and will be roughly over Punjab by mid-morning tomorrow. It will rapidly fizzle out and be replaced by a building ridge of high pressure starting tomorrow afternoon, but we should stay in a favorable position to get more of this rain and thunder action until perhaps noon. Satellite pics indicate recent new development to our south and southwest, which upper-level winds will steer in our direction tonight.
Positive changes are still on the way for Thursday and Friday, as temperatures warm up dramatically throughout all layers of the atmosphere. The only issue is the potential for some waves of high cloudiness which could prevent us from benefiting from the full effects of the March sunshine. Still -- temps in excess of 60F (15.5C) appear likely, and that will be for the first time this season for my thermometer here in the upper part of town.
Another period of showers and thundershowers creeps back into the forecast for the early part of next week, however, with Monday and Tuesday looking quite rainy. But that's far enough away that things could easily change.
