turbulence continues... (am.11.mar.14)>

*Update @ 1:17pm... We got through the morning without much more than a couple of brief periods of thunder, hail, and light rain showers.  I've only had 0.03" (1mm) of rain since 7:30am.  But it's started to look more ominous out there during the past half hour or so, and satellite pics show a lot of new thunderstorm development getting underway.  Some heavy thunder and lightning at the moment, but still not that much rain here at my location.  That could change very shortly.  The current temp is 48.6F (9.2C).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scattered thundershowers are roaming the area early this morning, as they have been since late last night.  Winds are gusting occasionally as well.  My rain gauge shows 0.52" (1.3cm) since last evening's report -- bringing our storm total up to 0.68" (1.7cm) so far.  I recorded an overnight low temp of 41.4F (5.2C), but it's back up to 46.0F (7.8C) at the moment.  Humidity is 63%.

There's not much to say that hasn't already been said the last couple of days.  This storm system has been coming together pretty much as expected, with the center of the upper-level low pressure circulation sitting over west central Pakistan at sunrise this morning.  Its counter-clockwise rotation will continue to pump moist and warmer air northward, which will slam into the cooler air here along the north Indian Himalayas.  That more buoyant air mass from the south will be lifted upward as the upper-level energy continues to move in from the west -- keeping quite a lot of shower and thunderstorm activity developing in and around our area all the way into early tomorrow (Wed) morning.

So far, we're way below some of the computer model projections for rainfall totals, but let's see what happens during the next 24 hours.  This is not nearly over yet.

Very rapid changes for the better are expected by late tomorrow, as this system gets booted out of here by an aggressively building ridge of high pressure to our southwest.  Although I can't say the risk of a shower will entirely disappear, we should see much nicer conditions and the biggest warm-up of our fresh spring season between Thursday and Saturday.
