april comfort... (pm.11.apr.15)>

Saturday's stats:

Low temp: 57.0F (13.9C)
High temp: 74.6F (23.7C)
Rainfall: none

We have a partly cloudy sky across the area just before sunset this evening, with the tops of some dying thundershowers visible off to our east and southeast.  It's been another very nice day, with lots of sunshine challenged only by the usual late morning through afternoon cumulus cloud build-up over the Dhauladhars.  There were even some rumbles of thunder up there starting around 1:45pm, but from the satellite view, it appears that most of that scattered thundershower activity remained northeast of us during the afternoon.  My high temp in the upper part of town was not far from 75ºF/24ºC, which is almost exactly right for this time of year.

Despite the dramatic warming of the atmosphere during the past two or three days, we are having to keep an eye on an upper-level circulation over central Pakistan this evening which has been responsible for some scattered shower/thundershower action from Pakistan into northwest India today.  This system is weakening as it drifts to the southeast, but could provide just enough instability to set off a round or two of thundershowers during the next 24 hours or so.  We should still see a decent amount of sunshine on Sunday, but keep that shower risk in mind.  It then looks like the rain risk will diminish on Monday into Tuesday as high pressure in the upper atmosphere attempts to push in from the west.

Computer models are still showing an interesting-looking tongue of deep moisture creeping up from the southeast by Tuesday night, which could re-introduce a chance of some scattered thundershowers during the mid-week period.  But it looks like that moisture will retreat by Friday.  Temperatures will cool down several degrees in the event of a thundershower episode, otherwise we're looking at these comfortable and seasonable conditions to continue on...
