ending the day well... (pm.12.jun.15)>

Friday's stats:

Low temp: 66.6F (19.2C)
High temp: 84.7F (29.3C)
Rainfall: 0.01" (less than 1mm)

We're back to gorgeously pleasant weather again at sunset this evening -- finishing the day  in a similar fashion to how it started.  This morning's full sunshine did give way to an explosive increase in clouds over the mountains right around noon, but nothing much became of it.  There was a bit of thunder during the early afternoon, along with some very light sprinkles of rain around 2:00-2:30pm or so -- then another round of brief, very light showers and very gusty winds between 5:00 and 5:45pm.  But you can see from the rainfall stats above that none of it made much of an impression on the rain gauge.  Our high temp was again very close to expectations.

As I've been saying for days, the overall weather pattern isn't changing very much.  We have a west-northwesterly flow aloft, combined with an increasingly moisture-laden air mass lurking just to our south.  Add in the local mountain effects, and that spells mainly afternoon and evening instability which is stirring up some isolated thundershower activity across the western Himalayas.  Otherwise, it's been seasonably warm with plenty of sunshine, apart from that PM cloud/thunder development along the Dhauladhars.  Over the weekend through about Monday there is going to be some cooler air sinking southward in the mid- and upper-levels of the atmosphere.  With all other factors remaining the same, that may increase our instability, and give us a little better chance of some substantial shower and thunderstorm activity... again... mainly during the PM into the overnight hours.

A trend toward stabilization happens again by Tuesday into Wednesday of next week, with temperatures perhaps warming up a few more degrees.  Humidity will be on the increase as well, so it's still looking like we could have some of the most uncomfortably warm and humid conditions of the entire season and the year just ahead of us.
